back to school tips from azendea's aromatherapist and herbalist

Can you believe summer vacation is over? Are you ready to head back to school? Get ready to go back to school with these tips from our certified herbalist, aromatherapist, and CBD specialist. Whether you are the parent, the student, or both, we hope you will find them helpful.

Get back to a routine

A few days before school starts, re-establish your daily routine:

  • Set your alarm clock and wake up at a set time.

  • Have breakfast, lunch, and dinner at a time as if you are at or out of school. Eat 3 hours before bedtime to allow time for digestion, so your body can use the energy to repair cellular damages while you sleep.

  • Start setting a consistent and regular sleep schedule. Set aside at least 7 hours of sleep before waking up.

  • To help you fall asleep, set an atmosphere with a relaxed and calming scent at bed time. Use a linen spray such as Azendea’s Sleepy Moon Bed & Pillow Mist in the bedroom and on the pillows to calm your mind.

  • Try Dr. Andrew Well's 4-7-8 breathing exercise to help you relax. It's very simple: Breathe in through your nose for 4 counts; hold your breath for 7 counts; blow air through your mouth for 8. Repeat 4 times.

Natural ways to increase focus, reduce stress and anxiety

  • When studying, diffuse Rosemary essential oil in the room. The scent of rosemary is calming, and it can help improve memory and creativity. Read more about Rosemary essential oil in another article here.

  • Enjoy sipping tea? Brew a cup of tea with Elderberry. It gives you a boost in your immunity and helps relieve stress.

  • Another suggestion on herbal tea is Passion flower. It is a nervine herb that is mildly sedative. It can help with reducing anxiety and promote good sleep.

Cannabinoids (CBD) may help

More and more parents are seeking out natural alternative options on ADHD and other focus or behavioral issues with children. When applied appropriately and with proper dosage, CBD may help both adult and children in various ways:

  • More focus at school leading to academic improvement;

  • More balanced moods;

  • Better sleep;

  • Healthier appetites;

  • Better eating habits;

  • Less tantrums and quicker deescalation;

  • Healthier relationships between friends and siblings
